BERNARD FIELDS LECTURE The Bernard Fields Lecture, named in tribute to the exemplary work of the esteemed microbiologist and virologist Bernard Fields, is given during the Opening Session, usually by a basic scientist recognized for his or her important and relevant contributions to the fields of virology and viral pathogenesis. 15 THE ANCIENT ANDMODERN ORIGINS OF HIV Michael Emerman , Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center, Seattle, WA, USA N’GALY-MANN LECTURE The N’Galy-Mann Lecture recognizes an HIV/AIDS researcher for his or her important and relevant work in the fields of epidemiology or clinical research. PERFORMANCE BY THE BOSTON CHILDREN'S CHORUS The Boston Children’s Chorus’s (BCC) vibrant, jubilant, and powerful

performances showcase the talent and passion of the diverse young people of Boston. In 2013, the BCC was presented with the National Arts and Humanities Youth Program Award by First Lady Michelle Obama.

WELCOME RECEPTION All registered CROI attendees are invited to the welcome reception immediately following the opening session on Sunday evening. This welcome reception will offer attendees the opportunity to network with colleagues. Light hors d’oeuvres will be served. Each attendee will be given 2 drink tickets with their registration materials to be used for alcoholic or nonalcoholic beverages.
