Population and Cost Modeling Abstract Content Author names, institutions, abstract titles, and abstracts in the Program and Abstracts eBook are generally presented as submitted by the corresponding author. Abstract Review Process The Program Committee (PC) and a panel of volunteer external reviewers reviewed approximately 2000 submitted abstracts. Each abstract was reviewed by 5 to 10 reviewers selected for each abstract category based upon their individual expertise. PC members and external experts in the field reviewed the abstracts for the quality and originality of the work and scored them numerically. All reviewers were instructed to abstain from scoring any abstract on which they are an author or coauthor, have a financial or personal conflict of interest, or do not have the appropriate expertise to evaluate. Scores ranged from 1 (definite oral presentation) to 5 (rejected). Scores for each abstract were averaged and the standard deviation was calculated to assess variability. If variability was high, outlier scores are identified and censored. Abstracts with high variability in scores were discussed individually during a series of conference calls. Abstracts were accepted for oral presentations, for poster presentations, or rejected. Late-breaking abstract reviews included an assessment of the late- breaking nature of the work (versus just being a late submission).
